The easiest gold medal I’ll ever win

The first competition we did last week, the BJJ 24/7 London Open, was good. I had three fights, but on the first fight I heard hurt my LCL, so all of this week I wasn't able to train. I was just doing mostly rehab for my knee to be good, so I could do the IBJJF London International Open.

So, the reason why I lost my second fight here at the IBJJF, and lost the final is because (me and my luck!) I just got unlucky. The guy just shot for my leg, and he went for the leg that was hurting. So, from then, it was difficult to defend and get the guard back. And then I got caught in a in a gi choke, which was on, but not fully on. In a real fight, I wouldn't have tapped, really, if I didn't have the knee injury, or I didn't know I already had a medal.

I know that jiu-jitsu is not something that I'm fully into. My career is in MMA, so I don't want to risk any injuries, so I just tapped. That meant I got the silver medal.

Because I ended up with silver, rather than gold, I was not happy, and I was determined to get gold in the no-gi the next day, and it ended up being easier than I expected!

I only had one fight for the gold, and the guy literally left the competition, because they kept on pushing our fight time further and further back.

Eventually, my opponent had to leave to take a flight, so he had no choice but to disqualify himself and that gifted me the win.

It meant I didn't get to compete, which was disappointing. But I got the gold I came for. It's a bit of a boring way to get a gold, but at least it's in the record books...

Now, I'm turning my attention back to my bread and butter, MMA, and hope to share some big fight news with you very soon. Stay tuned!
